Treat Cancer with Radiotherapy and Chemotherapy Investment Particles - Surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy become a common method for treating cancer. Now, there are other treatment alternatives that may be conducted by the method of planting a combination of particle radiotherapy and chemotherapy particles.

Moreover, in some patients with cancer chemotherapy and radiotherapy side effects of high and it is less effective. Therefore, the combination of radiotherapy and chemotherapy particles could become a new treatment alternative, as expressed by Professor Pengxiaochi of Chinese Academic Clinical Oncology.

"The effects of particle radiotherapy and chemotherapy on tumor particles together with the effects of chemotherapy and radiotherapy were performed simultaneously being directly targeted on the tumor," said Prof. Pengxiaochi in The First ASEAN Forum on Minimally Invasive Academic Therapy for Tumor Treatment organized by the Academic Committee and Modern Invasive Cancer Tumors Hospital of Guangzhou at Ayodya Resort Bali, Saturday (11/04/2015).

It says Prof. Pengxiaochi, planting radioactive particles into the tumor aims to radiation can kill tumor cells. Well, that used radioactive particles are particles of Iodine 125. Planting is done with stereotratic system. The advantages of this procedure, continued Prof. Pengxiaohi, of which the particles are embedded targeted, rapid implementation time, and maximize network murder cancer cells.

Planting particle radiotherapy also does not damage normal tissue for tissue targeting only cancer cells. Meanwhile, planting procedures particles chemotherapy or also called interstitial chemotherapy which include anti-cancer drugs. Chemotherapy interfisial basically contains a drug that can be parsed or can not be parsed through the drug delivery systems. Generally, the drug delivery is made from synthetic polymers.

"The way it works, we poked the needle into the skin surface then chemotherapy and radiotherapy particles arranged irregularly into the tumor. The advantages of this procedure are particles embedded in a certain position then directly targeted on tumor cells," said Prof Pengxiaochi.

Particles chemotherapy attack tumor cells in the long term with high drug concentration. Having regard to the concentration of drug in the tissues surrounding the long run, it can prevent the occurrence of infiltration.

Added Prof Pengxiaochi, like particle radiotherapy, although particle chemotherapy can produce a high concentration of drug at the local level, but the amount that goes into the blood circulation throughout the body has very little speed. Thus, the same drug dosage, side effects of chemotherapy particles smaller than conventional chemotherapy.

This method can be used for the primary tumor or who have experienced merastasis such as breast cancer, liver cancer, cervical cancer, and other cancers. The number of particles grown too dependent tumor size. However, if it is felt less embedded particles, the number could be added.

Another advantage of this procedure is that the combination of particle implantation and chemotherapy can be done simultaneously. In addition to not have to undergo surgery process once again, the patient also received two results at a time. Particles of chemotherapy and radiotherapy can persist in the body for 180 days.
